How to protect yourself from a ‘glorious’ car accident

A car was hit by a truck driver who was in the process of speeding down the street, killing one person and injuring another, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. 

The accident occurred on Sunday at about 6:50 p.m. near the intersection of H Street and Westheimer Boulevard in New York City, according the NHTSA. 

As the car was moving, a man who was driving his truck, who was not wearing a seat belt, turned left and struck the front right-side window of a black pickup truck. 

Witnesses said the truck driver was wearing a dark shirt, dark pants, dark shoes, and a dark hooded sweatshirt. 

He then accelerated into the truck, hitting the vehicle, which then hit a curb. 

Police and the NHA have been searching for the trucker who fled the scene. 

A preliminary investigation shows that the truck and the pickup truck driver had both been drinking alcohol, according to NHTAS. 

Investigators are trying to determine the exact cause of the crash.

According to police, the truck was traveling east on Westheimer and crashed into a white Ford F150 pickup truck parked in the parking lot of a store. 

Two people in the pickup were taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.

Witnesses told police that the man who hit the truck “was drunk and had his hands on his waistband” and “was trying to get away.”
